In order to receive funding from SUSI, you must have been resident in the Irish State or the EU/EEA/Swiss Federation for three of the last five years.
You must have one document for each year and the documents must cover a window/period of 3 full years or 36 months.
Although the months covered is only 7 months, it demonstrates/covers a period of 36 months in that the oldest document is 01-01-2012 and the most recent document is 02-02-2015 and there is no period that is longer than 12 months as we have documents for 2013 and 2014, the 2 years in between 2012 and 2015.
The following example where the months may add up to the same as above but the period doesn’t cover 36 months would not be accepted.
Although the months covered is also only 7 months, the entire period only covers 2.25 years/27 months, oldest document is 01-11-2012 and the most recent document is 02-02-2015 instead of the required 36 months period.
Please also note that the 3 full years or 36 months does not need to be consecutive and can be made up of 2 or more windows. For example:
Document 1 – Bank Statement 01-09-2011 to 01-11-2011 (2 months)
Document 2 – Utility Bill 01-08-2012 to 01-10-2012 (2 months)
Document 3 – Bank Statement 01-01-2014 to 04-04-2014 (3 months)
Document 4 – Bank Statement 01-01-2015 to 02-02-2015 (1 month)
Document 5 – Utility Bill 01-01-2016 to 01-03-2016 (2 months)
Here documentation for the first window covers 13 months (from 01-09-2011 to 01-10-2012) and the second window covers 26 months (from 01-01-2014 to 01-03-2016) and there is no period between documents that is longer than 12 months.
